Durham's bid to become the UK's first City of Culture in 2013 has been officially submitted this week.

Durham has a wealth of support from residents in and around County and the entire North East, as well as testimonials from a few notable faces. Alan Shearer and actor Alun Armstrong are just two famous faces who have pledged their support.
The website, www.durhamcityofculture.co.uk has been designed and developed by the team at Tees Valley based agency, Calm Digital, and highlights the vast array of culutral events, people and happeinings across the County. It also captures comments from those who want to register their support.
One key feature of the website is the Culture Map, which pinpoints Durham's Cultural Scene, Culutral People and Creative Industries across the County.
