The creative talents of a Teesside firm have helped it pick up a raft of new work. Middlebrough-based Calm Asylum has clinched a number of new contracts, including providing a revamp of the Destination Tees Valley site, the area's tourism website.

The team has also brought the website fully up to date so it conforms to legislative accessibility.

The new-look site will go live by the end of the month and will be easy for everyone, including people with disabilities, to navigate.

Calm Asylum has worked with Codeworks, the region's centre of digital excellence, to make sure all its work conforms to all legislative accessibility.

The Middlesbrough team specialises in website design and development, CD-Rom production, corporate branding, advertising, marketing, communication and design.

It is working with other new clients, including North Yorkshire County Council, independent telecom company BNS Telecom and North-east landscape architects Insite Environments.

Calm Asylum is providing them with a range of branding and marketing services.

As well as Destination Tees Valley, Calm Asylum is also revamping the region's First For Festivals and River Tees Fantasy websites.

It is also working on an interactive website for Tees Valley Arts and Tees Valley Creatives.

Mark Easby, director at Calm Asylum, said: "We aim to improve these sites dramatically, increase interest and traffic through the sites to convert into tourist footfall."

He added: "We're continuing to expand our range of services.

"We're working with clients on everything from new branding and marketing material to upgrading and improving websites to make them comply with accessibility legislation.

"We've worked very closely with Codeworks to make sure our sites can be used by everyone."

Calm Asylum moved to its new offices at Riverside Park last year.

But the company is now looking to spread its wings further.

The firm hopes to open an office in the United Arab Emirates this year.

The company currently employs 12 staff and is looking to add to its numbers - with a business development manager being one of the next key recruits the team is searching for.

"We want to expand our team as our range of work expands," said Mark.
