Make a Child Smile & Calm Asylum in Digital Awards Race
Fri, 28 Mar 2008
Make a Child Smile Charity and Calm Asylum has joined the race to be named the region’s top digital talent – at the very first North East Digital Awards.
Make a Child Smile has been nominated in the Digital Users – Best Public Information Website category thanks to Calm Asylum. The awards celebrate the achievements of businesses and organisations that have recognised, developed and used digital techniques to generate and maintain an effective online presence.
Dawn Carney, the Manager of Make a Child Smile explains;
"Upon taking over the management of the charity I realised the charity needed a new website to act as a central hub for communications. Calm Asylum offered to develop the website as a gift to the charity. Since launching the site a few months ago, it has enhanced the way in which the charity operates from all angles. A great example is the Tommy Leech Campaign.
The site displays pictures, videos, fundraising events and enables online donations immediately, which has led to the achievement of over £20,000. It also allows the charity to communicate efficiently to the public the achievements of their fundraising efforts, for example the recent Build a Dream Campaign. We are so grateful for the support in which Calm has provided and really cannot thank them enough!”
With categories ranging from ‘Best Use of Blogging’ to ‘Best Online Security Solution’ and ‘Best Example of Game Development’, the entire entry and voting process is taking place online - with every entry featuring extensively on the North East Digital Awards website www.northeastdigitalawards.co.uk.
The awards are supported by regional development agency One NorthEast. Emmanuelle Martinot, the Agency’s eBusiness Technical Adviser said:
“The benefits of digital business development are huge, and businesses in this region can boast some fantastic achievements in the sector. These awards are an opportunity to highlight and celebrate those achievements.”
